Cantrell Center 2
So I joined the pool there. First you need a wellness check from the Dr. Got that. Then you have to meet for a consultation. Jason was a very knowledgeable and eager guy who took my bp , bf% (18.3) :( and did a very thorough Q&A on my goals. Turns out there a few other triathletes who train there. What really got me was the number of members. 700. Yes, that's right. 700 members and I had never even heard of it really before someone mentioned they thought there was a pool there. They are planning on adding a 10,500 sq. ft. gym extension and another indoor heated pool. The cool thing is that I can train there for swimming and if I need any help with workout design, advice, etc. that's all included for just $40 per month. 2 of the guys there already were willing to let me borrow their road bikes for the triathlon in August. I really liked the vibe there that was more about rehabilitation and athletics as opposed to the pimp and show stuff in a commercial gym. 2 women jumped out of the pool while I was there and put on running clothes and took off. Pool hours for lap swimming are pretty good for me too. They open at 0530 which is a little late for me since I like to be at work by 7 am but they also have a 7-9 pm time I might do instead. No excuses now for not swimming. Even straight thru the winter.
