What does it mean to be adopted?

A first grade teacher was discussing a picture of a family. One little boy in the picture had different colored hair than the other family members. One of the teacher’s students suggested that he was adopted.

A little girl said, “I know all about adoption. I was adopted.”

“What does it mean to be adopted?” asked another child.

“It means,” said the girl, “that you grew in your mommy’s heart instead of her tummy.”

Spring part 2

Lots of things growing around here this year.

Corn just coming up in my Three Sisters bed.

Blackberries with flowers almost ready to bloom.

And just a few onions. I'll plant lots in the fall but I never have much luck with spring onions for some reason.

ClubOrlov: Bullets from the Drug War

I don't agree with all of this but there's no denying it's not a "Mexico" problem as some insist. Americans want drugs and will pay. Therefore one way or the other drugs will find their way here. Hopefully people will want to legalize them before the feds use the "war on drugs" to completely strip citizens of all their constitutional protections in exchange for "safety".

Spring! and Strawberries

This nails exactly the types of alienation and identity loss I felt when I stayed home for a year with my kids.

CCIE Written Passed

I finally passed my written exam and now need to start the long process of getting ready for the lab portion. It took about 3 months total of which the last 6 weeks have been hard study. I expect the lab to take about 6-12 months according to what life throws at me this year. Oh and the $5000 I'll end up spending for the privilege of taking it!

The death of the work ethic

Sometimes I just want to move to Galt's Gulch after a week of listening to moocher and looter political theories at work 'til my head wants to explode.

I guess I'll just try to create my own little gulch until that time.....
